Kids read the darnedest things, part #743

Rhys is reading a lot now. He especially loves to read things like road signs and labels on things in stores. We ended up bopping around a little Asian grocery today, one of those places with dozens of varieties of fruits and vegetables, all meticulously labeled. Lately, when he doesn't know a word, sometimes he'll try to sound it out and make a guess. "Red Globe Grapes" became "Red Gobble Grapes", which I thought was a pretty good guess. But I almost fell down in the aisle when Rhys declared to me: "Look, it's fugly apples!". (They were Fuji apples.)

Fireworks!

Rhys loves fireworks!   We saw a nice display at Tarrytown, over the Hudson River, and he was delighted.  He used every superlative he could think of, including...

"I love fireworks!"
"Beautiful!"
"Pretty!"
"Ooh, a big one!"
"Oh my gosh!"
"I trust fireworks!"

We don't quite understand that last one.
