Crime Does Not Pay
Feb. 7th, 2006 09:24 pmIn the last month or two, Rhys has had the habit of grabbing food off of other peoples' plates. We've tried to discourage him by very nice means -- stopping him and explaining that everyone has their own food and if he wants to taste someone else's, he should ask.
Tonight, we went out for sushi.
Neither Vicki nor I was quite paying attention, towards the end of the meal.
I didn't quite realize what he had grabbed 'til it was in his mouth.
I did make him put most of the lump of wasabi down, but he had taken a substantial little nibble by that point.
After a few minutes, the waitress managed to get him to stop crying by giving him a couple cherries. But after he'd eaten them, he took another look at Vicki's plate and started crying again.
Stronger cheering-up measures were needed. Some of them involved ice cream.
Poor kid ... but we told him and told him that it was a bad idea to grab food off other peoples' plates.
